Diploma in Vocational Ministry Leadership

Twenty core courses form the Diploma in Vocational Ministry Leadership.  Ten hours in elective courses can be applied toward the required sixty hours.  Ten hours in concentration studies are required to fulfill the DVML program.  The concentration courses are being developed and will present studies in the following areas: Pastor Leader, Worship Leader, Youth Leader, Children Leader, Evangelism Leader, and Administrator-Assimilator.  The CVICS course studies are to fulfill our CVBA purpose:  “Multiply disciples and churches and equip and encourage pastors and members to accomplish this.”  Course may change over time in order to better fulfill our purpose.

  1. Expository Preaching—public communication skills for sharing God’s Word
  1. New Testament survey—knowledge and understanding of the key truths of these books
  1. Old Testament survey—greater insight of our God by the case studies of these books
  1. Baptist History: theological development—the SBC and associations
  1. Hermeneutics—how to effectively understand and apply Scripture to life
  1. Evangelism—theology and application: how to equip members to multiply
  1. Mentoring (multiplying leaders): how the local church raises more leaders
  1. dministration and Church Growth: organizing people  for effective ministry

            (How to steward the spiritual gifts of members for church growth and extension)

  1. Church Growth I: theology, principles, and applications
  1. Music and Worship (worship leaders, planning worship, media supports)
  1.  Planting Healthy Reproducing Churches—the bi-vocational team approach
  1. Age Group Ministries (needs/approaches for Adults, Youth, Children, Preschool)
  1. English—grammar skills: correct use of verbs, pronouns, modifiers, punctuation
  1. Church History:  Ante-Nicene period through the twentieth century
  1. Systematic Theology I
  1. Systematic Theology II
  1. Conflict Preclusion and Resolution in the church

  18.   Counseling Principles and Human-Social Issues

  19.  Exegesis of Culture—effective harvest ingathering principles for local contexts

  20.  Small Groups—Leading and multiplying
